Comparison of Two Sources

*See "Reading Arguments Critically" in The Aims of Argument (25).

Attention Step (Introduction) and Thesis: Introduce the general topic and give background information. State the thesis clearly. Your thesis should contain whether the authors agree or disagree.

First Body Paragraph: Give the background information of the writer and identify the source. Clearly summarize the author's ideas and use quotes to support the statements. Use parenthetical documentation throughout your paper.

Second Body Paragraph: Use the second source and give the background information of the writer and identify the source, Again, clearly summarize the author's ideas and use quotes to support the statements.

Third Body Paragraph: Analyze the two sources in terms of objectivity. Use specific examples for the comparison. What sources do the writers use for support? Do they use primary or secondary support?

Concluding Paragraph: With which of the two sources did you agree in terms of principle? Did you support one source in terms of objectivity, but agree with the other in terms of the issue discussed? Make sure you state why.
